Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Jual Oram is leading the Sundargarh Lok Sabha constituency from Odisha for third consecutive term with high margin. He secured total of 3,93,243 votes with the lead of 1,17,949. Former captain of the Indian field hockey team and Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Dilip Tirkey is in second place with 2,79,742 votes. Indian National Congress’ (INC) Janardhan Dehury is at third position.

Jual Oram is a seasoned politician and a prominent member of BJP. Born on March 22, 1961, Oram has been a significant political figure, representing the Sundargarh constituency of Odisha in the 17th Lok Sabha. His long-standing commitment to public service is evidenced by his multiple terms in the Lok Sabha, having been a member of the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 16th Lok Sabha elections. Oram’s political acumen was recognized by the party. He was also appointed as one of the Cabinet Ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. He was appointed as the Minister of Tribal Affairs.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Jual Oram secured victory from the Sundargarh seat with a significant margin of 223,065 votes. Jual Oram garnered 5,00,056 votes, constituting to 45 percentage of the total vote share. He clinched the victory by defeating BJD’s Sunita Biswal, who received 2,76,991 votes, accounting for 25.16% of the total votes. Similarly, in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Jual Oram emerged victorious from the same constituency on BJP ticket.
