BK Parthasarathi Wins Andhra Pradesh's Hindupur Lok Sabha Seat

TDP lost the Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency during the YSRCP wave in 2019. This year, B K Parthasarathi wins the seat.

J Shanta of YSRCP, and B K Parthasarathi of TDP were the key players. Congress has field B A Samad Shaheen, a new face in the election arena. There were total of thirteen candidates in Hindupur including the independent candidates. As the result unfolded, TDP’s Parthasarathi won the seat over the margin of 1,32,427 votes.

Hindupur is the one of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies of Andhra Pradesh. It consists of seven assembly segments belonging to Sri Sathya Sai district and Anantapur district. Until 2019, the constituency was won by Indian National Congress and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In the YSRCP (Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party) wave of 2019, both Congress and TDP lost the seat to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party.

During the 2019 Lok Sabah election, YSRCP’s Kuruva Gorantla Madhav, the police officer turned politician won the seat by defeating TDP’s Kristappa Nimmala, over the margin of 140,748 seats. During the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Nimmala won the election by defeating YSRCP’s Duddukunta Sreedhar Reddy, and INC’s G C Venkataramudu. He won the seat with the majority of 97,325 votes.

Parthasarathi has been with TDP since the party’s inception. He won the Hindupur seat during the 1999 Lok Sabha seat. In the 2004 general election, he lost the seat to G Nizamuddin of Congress over a margin of mere 1,840 votes. Parthasarathi contested in the 2009 assembly election from the Penukonda assembly seat of Andhra Pradesh and won the seat by defeating Congress’ K T Sreedhar, over the margin of 14,385 votes. He retained the seat in 2014 assembly election by defeating Malagundla Sankaranarayana of YSRCP (Yuvajana Shramika RythuCongress Party), but lost the seat in 2019 assembly election
