Pawan Kalyan is one of the most charismatic actor in the Telugu world. The star owns several titles including actor, filmmaker, martial artist, philanthropist, and a politician. Kalyan is known for his unique style of acting and mannerisms. The star is now contesting for the 2024 Lok Sabha election on Jasa Sena Party ticket.

He is the founder of the Jana Sena Party. Kalyan started off his political career in 2008 as the president of Yuvarajyam, the youth wing of Praja Rajyam Party, which was started by his elder brother Chiranjeevi. While he actively contested for the party, he never held any constitutional post during his days in the party. In 2011, when Chiranjeevi decided to merge his party with Congress, Kalyn took break from political life, accentuating his dissent in the party”s decision to merge.

In 2014, coming back to political life, He founded Jana Sena Party. Kalyan wrote a book, named Ism, which is also believed to be the ideology of his party. Kalyan has been a BJP supporter from the beginning. He actively campaigned for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) (formed by former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao), a BJP alliance in Andhra Pradesh. He greatly opposed Congress and held on to the slogan Congress Hatao, Desh Bachao (Stop Congress, Save the Country).

In 2017, Kalyan announced his decision to completely involve in politics after finishing off his filming commitments. In 2019, he announced that his party would contest in the assembly election. He opposed the central government”s decision to privatise Dredging Corporation of India (DCI). The actor led a protest march to condolence farmers who committed suicides or migrated from the drought-prone regions of Rayalaseema. He also opposed the TDP Government”s decision on land pooling. He also exposed the alleged unchecked mining in the reserve forest area at Vanthada village of Prathipadu in East Godavari district.

During the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, the Jana Sena Party has contested in 140 constituencies. Pawan Kalyan has contested from two constituencies Gajuwaka, and Bhimavaram. He lost both the seats to YSR Congress Party (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party). In the election, Jana Sena Party won the Razole seat, making it the only seat the party has won.

In 2020, Kalyan announced Jana Sena Party”s alliance with BJP, after three years of distancing. For the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Kalyan chose Pithapuram constituency to contest. He is contesting against YSR Congress Party”s senior leader Vanga Geetha. The election is crucial for both Pawan Kalyan and his party, which faced a huge defeat.
