Listing the “unresolved promises” outlines in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, Andhra Pradesh Congress chief YS Sharmila wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday requesting fulfillment of these commitments for the development of the state.
YS Sharmila, in the letter, has listed eight unfulfilled promises that are listed in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 and it included Special Category Status, declaring Polavaram National Irrigation Project and execution of the Project by Union Government, major port at Dugarajapatnam, steel plant at YSR Kadapa District, separate Railway Zone for Vizag, special economic packages for Rayalaseema and North Andhra districts, development of Vizag -Chennai Industrial Corridor, and building the new capital city.

Sharmila said that 10 years have been passed after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh but promises have not been fulfilled till date. She added that the people of the state “continue to feel cheated” and “thanks to the apathy of the governments that have failed to pursue the promises and also deliver them”.
“Today, the state stands at a crossroads of confusion, chaos and hopelessness, feeling disheartened, a painful situation that we request you to empathise,” Congress chief wrote in the letter.
Continuing further, she said that the failure to fulfill these promises probes the “honesty quotient of the Central government”.
In such scenario, Sharmila on behalf the 5.5 crore people of the state, appeals to Prime Minister to include these points in the President Speech to be delivered on the first day of the Parliament Budget sessions on January 31, 2024.
Two days before, Congress Chief has called Prime Minister Modi “a kedi” (cunning), and alleged that he didn”t contribute anything for the development of Andhra Pradesh, India Today reports.
YS Sharmila, the founder President of YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) joined Congress on January 4. She was appointed as the state chief of the party, on January 16.
YS Sharmila is the daughter of former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy and the sister of current Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
