Darbhanga Lok Sabha Election Result: Gopal Jee Thakur Wins With 5.6 Lakh Votes

The BJP candidate Gopal Jee Thakur has secured victory and another term in the Darbhanga seat with 5,66,630 lakh votes. He defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Lalit Kumar Yadav with a margin of 1,78,156 votes.

Thakur currently serves as the Darbhanga MP. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, the total number of voters in Darbhanga was approximately 1,654,811, with a voter turnout of 58.35 percent. BJP’s Thakur emerged victorious, defeating RJD’s Abdul Bari Siddiqui. From Pachayat President to the Member of Parliament, he has represented the party in many roles.

Thakur became the Panchayat President of the village Parri in 1990. He became the General Secretary of the Kishan Morcha of BJP in the Darbhanga district in 1994. Thakur served as the Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2010 to 2015. He also served as the President of BJP Bihar from 2017 to 2019. He became the Special Invitee member if the BJP’s National Executive Committee in 2021.

Lalit Kumar Yadav is the current MLA representing Darbhanga Rural assembly seat. He was elected in 1995 as a member of the RJD. Yadav is a six-time MLA and former Revenue and Land Reforms Minister of Bihar. Beginning his political career in 1980, he first won the Manigachhi assembly constituency in 1995 on the RJD ticket. He has been winning the Darbhanga Rural assembly constituency since 2010.

The Bihar Lok Sabha elections has been dominated by the NDA. Both BJP and the Janata Dal (United) have leads in 12, as per the EC data. The LJPRV has lead in 5 seats, followed by the Congress in 4, the RJD in 3, and HAMS in 1.
