Delhi Scorches In Modi Dominance: BJP Leads In All Seven Seats

In the New Delhi constituency, first-time contender Bansuri Swaraj, representing the BJP, has surged ahead with a commanding lead of 31,594 votes. This significant margin places her ahead of her opponent, AAP’s Somnath Bharti. Bansuri Swaraj’s candidacy initially raised eyebrows, even within the BJP, as she is relatively new to politics.

Despite her newcomer status, her selection for the high-profile New Delhi seat surprised many, considering her lineage as the daughter of late BJP stalwart Sushma Swaraj. This decision was given Sushma’s historical ties with senior BJP figures like L K Advani, who had previously contested Narendra Modi‘s elevation as the party’s prime ministerial candidate in 2014.

Bansuri’s foray into politics began in March 2023 when she was appointed co-convenor of the Delhi BJP’s legal department, marking her initial steps into the political sphere. BJP is still leading in all seven seats in Delhi.

Praveen Khandelwal (Chandni Chowk) is leading by 29,736 votes against Jai Prakash Agarwal, while Manoj Tiwari (Northeast Delhi) is leading by a margin of over 1 lakh votes against Congress’ Kanhaiya Kumar. On one of the most significant seats in the national capital Bansuri Swaraj (New Delhi) is leading by a margin of over 32,000 votes against AAP’s Somnath Bharti. Yogender Chandoliya (North West Delhi) by 1,15544 votes, Kamaljeet Sehrawat (West Delhi) by 80,604 votes and Ramvir Singh Bidhuri (South Delhi) by 66,007 votes.

While the BJP is leading on all 7 seats in the capital, the lowest vote margin is between the candidates in East Delhi. BJP Candidate Harsh Malhotra is leading by 22,168 votes.
