The All India Trinamool Congress MP and ex-investment banker Mahua Moitra took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday and said that the Ethics Committee report against her will only help Ms Moitra to double her vote margin in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “I will stand from Krishnanagar & double my margin”, she noted on X.
According to Ms Moitra, she would be back with a bigger mandate next year, even if she is expelled now based on a report by the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee, which supports the allegations of cash-for-query scam against her. The 500-page report was adopted by the Committee in a 6-4 vote.
Also Mr. Adani – don’t waste your time telling everyone “Mahua’s ticket will be cut”.
Only thing that will be cut is your market capitalization as your house of cards unravels.Like I said I will stand from Krishnanagar & double my margin.

She was also known “proud” to go down in the history of parliament as the first individual to be “unethically expelled” by the Ethics Committee “whose mandate doesn’t include expulsion. “1st expel & THEN ask govt to ask CBI to find evidence. Kangaroo court, monkey business from start to finish”, she added.

The Parliamentary Ethics Committee convened on Thursday to adopt a draft report on the cash-for-query allegations raised against TMC MP. The panel was headed by BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar and consisted of 15 members where seven members from the ruling BJP, three from the Congress, and one each from BSP, Shiv Sena, YSRCP, CPI(M) and JDU.
The ethics body looked into BJP MP Dr Nishikant Dubey’s allegation that TMC MP received bribes and favours for raising questions in the Parliament targeting Adani group at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani. The complaint also claims that Ms Moitra had misused her parliamentary login and id by allowing Mr Hiranandani to post questions on her behalf.
