BJP candidate Rao Rajendra Singh won Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha seat, a powerhouse renowned for its significant influence in Rajasthan and Indian politics as well. The constituency reflects diverse demography, including the presence of Yadav, Jat, and Ahir communities. All these votes played a vital role for the candidates in the race.
Rao Rajendra Singh won after a close battle with Anil Chopra. He secured 6,17,877 votes, which accounted for 48.96 percent of votes. Singh’s win by a narrow vote margin of 1,615 votes indicates the support for Anil Chopra in the constituency.
The Congress contender garnered 6,16,262 votes, representing 48.83 percent of the polls registered in the constituency. Apart from the decline in margin in the current election, Anil Chopra reduced the margin of the BJP candidate from the previous elections. In the 2014 and 2019 elections, the BJP Candidate won with a margin of above three lakh votes in each election.
Rao Rajendra Singh was a Rajasthan assembly member from 2003 to 2018, as he represented Shahpura for BJP. He also faced defeat against Lal Chand Kataria in the 2009 Lok Sabha election.
Five out of eight assembly segments are ruled by BJP MLAs in the constituency, while only three were ruled by Congress.
Since the formation of the constituency in 2008, Congress emerged victorious and came to power in 2009. The latter two terms were ruled by BJP in 2014 and 2019 due to the victory of Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore with a margin of 3,32,896 and 3,93,171 votes respectively.
The turnout for the constituency was 56.70 percent, successfully polled on April 19th in the first phase of the election.
