"People From Tamil Nadu Come Here, Plant Bombs Here”: Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje In Bengaluru

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje caused controversy on Tuesday when she accused of “people from Tamil Nadu” to Bengaluru and “plant bombs”. Many on internet started asking the minister, who is also the Bangalore North candidate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP, questions on her controversial statement.

Many on X asked the minister: What is your proof for this claim?

“People from Tamil Nadu come here, get trained there and plant bombs here. Placed bomb in café. Another person for Kerala attacked three women with acid,” the minister is seen telling a reporter. She was speaking from a location where BJP leaders and activists gathered to protest against an attack on a shopkeeper yesterday. She was referring to the recent blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in the city which was triggered by a low-intensity improvised explosive device.

The explosion rocked the popular cafe in the heart of Bengaluru, sending shockwaves through the IT capital of India. Nine people were injured in the blast at the popular café in Bengaluru’s Kundalahalli. The blast was seen on CCTV. In this connection, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) last week detained a man from Ballary. Police sources had told NDTV that this man believed to be an accomplice of the prime suspect who was seen leaving the cafe after placing the bomb.

The attack incident in question on which Ms Karandlaje and BJP activists were protesting, as per the police report, unfolded over a dispute regarding loud noise from a portable speaker. The Halasuru Gate police arrested three individuals—Suleman, Shah Nawaz, and Rohit—aged between 20 and 25, for allegedly assaulting Mukesh, the shopkeeper of Krishna Telecom in Cubbonpet, reported Deccan Herald.

According to senior officers, the daily said, the altercation began when six suspects approached Mukesh, demanding that he lower the volume on the portable speaker. A heated argument ensued, escalating into a physical confrontation captured on unverified CCTV footage from the shop.

An FIR has been registered at the Halasuru Gate police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those pertaining to criminal intimidation, intentional insult, and attempt to murder. The FIR names Suleman, Shah Nawaz, Rohit, Danish, Taruna, and others as suspects.
