From the Mumbai North East constituency, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has fielded Sanjay Dina Patil for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. The constituency will see a heated competition between the Bharatiya Janata Party”s Mihir Kotecha, who is the sitting MLA, and Patil, the former MLA of the Mumbai North East constituency.
While talking to media, Patil said his priority is shutting down the dumping grounds in North East constituency forever, as it had become Mumbai”s dump in the past decade. He said it is the local issue that mattered the most. Patil called himself a people”s worker and said that the atmosphere of the election is in favour of Maha Vikas Aghadi and Uddhav Thackeray.
He said that it was different from last time. This year, when they went seeking vote, people welcomed them unlike last when they were dogged by the people. He also added that while BJP is asking for vote in the name of Narendra Modi, he is asking vote for himself, as he will be working in the constituency, as reported by Mid Day.
Sanjay Dina Patil joined the Shiv Sena in 2019. Before that he was a member of Congress. He was elected as the member of Maharashtra state assembly for the first time in 2004 from the Bhandup constituency. In 2009, during the 15th Lok Sabha election, Patil was elected as the Member of Parliament from the Mumbai North East constituency, as a Congress candidate. He lost to BJP”s Kirit Somaiya during the 2014 Lok Sabha election. Now, in 2024, Patil hopes to win back his former seat.
