SP's RK Chaudhary Defeats BJP's Kaushal Kishore In Mohanlalganj Constituency

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader RK Chaudhary emerged victorious from Uttar Pradesh’s Mohanlalganj Constituency, accumulating over six lakh votes. The BJP’s sitting MP and minister Kaushal Kishore trailed behind, securing  5,95,673 votes.

RK Chaudhary is the former Cabinet Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Kaushal Kishore was elected as an MLA from Mohanlalganj in 1996, 2002 and 2007. He has an in depth connection with this constituency for a long-period. He started his political career with the BSP and later joined the SP in 2019.

Kaushal Kishore is the Minister of Sate for Housing and Urban Affairs. He was known for his grass-root influence while served as an MLA  Currently, he is the party’s SC wing state President. He was elected from Mohanlalganj in 2014 against RK Chaudhary of BSP.

Mohanlalganj is an important constituency from Uttar Pradesh. This constituency has supported various parties in elections. Congress won the constituency for five times, SP for four, BJP for three, Lok Dal and Janata Dal got  one each in the total 14 elections. Mohanlalganj is an SC reserved seat.

In 2014 election, Kaushal Kishore won the constituency from SP by receiving 455274 votes. BSP’s RK Chaudhary was the second by receiving 309858 votes. SP and Congress were placed third and fourth respectively. In 2019, though Kaushal Kishore fortified his power  by garnering the vote share of 49.77 %, CL Verma of BSP has showcased a battle by developing the vote share from 27.7 % to 42.52%.
