TMC candidate Yusuf Pathan has won the Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 85,022 votes and BJP candidate Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury secured the second place in the constituency.
TMC has registered victory on 29 seats while the BJP candidates won 12 seats and Congress on 1 seat.
Former Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan is the third member of the winning 2011 World Cup cricket team to enter politics. It should be noted that Harbhajan Singh and Gautam Gambhir, who won the 2011 World Cup with him, had already entered politics.
Berhampore Lok Sabha constituency has remained a Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and Congress stronghold in the past. In 2019, Congress candidate Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury won the election with 45.47 percent votes while TMC candidate Apurba Sarkar secured 39.26 percent votes. BJP candidate Krishna Juardar Arya got 11 percent votes.
In 2014, the Congress representative, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury got 50.54% votes followed by TMC candidate Indranil Sen who secured 19.69 percent votes and RSP candidate Pramothes Mukherjee who secured 19.54% votes.
