LPG Shortage In Gujarat: People Switch To Burning Wood For Cooking
Visuals are circulating on social media where migrant daily wage workers in an iron plant in Gujarat are using wood as a fuel to cook amid the soaring LPG prices. As the LPG shortage is following the US-Israel-Iran war, the prices of LPG have gone nearly 300 to 400 rps per Kg from its earlier Rs 100-150 per kg.
People are forced to switch to other modes of traditional cooking with wood or cow dung due to the unavailability of the cylinder.
These are daily wage Bihari labourers who work in an iron plant in Gujarat.
They are migrants. They don’t have LPG connection. They buy LPG refill in smaller cylinders by kilos.
At the moment, it is costing them ₹300-400 per kilo, which is almost their daily wage.

Timeline reached the gas agencies in Okhla and Bharat Nagar, where people are frustrated over the unavailability of the cylinders, LPG can not be booked, and if booked, the cylinders are not given. The cylinders, which cost Rs 1100 in black, are being sold with Rs 4000-5000 in black. While those with the connections are not able to book the LPG cylinders, the servers have crashed.
Even the cylinders are not available at the godowns, and people are coming back bare-handed amid the fuel shortage.
