Lionel Messi, the ‘Albiceleste’ captain who is now slowly moving towards his retirement has finally spoken about his retirement plans, and being a manager was not part of it. While speaking to journalist Fabrizio Romano, he said, “I don’t think I want to be a coach, but I’m not sure what I want to do in the future. I value everything I do daily much more than before, so all I think about is playing, training and having fun”.

Despite having an illustrious career filled with countless records and an undeniable passion for the games, Messi seems completely unplanned during his playing days.

Messi’s contract with the MLS club runs till 2025 and there are several speculations whether Messi will choose to continue at Inter Miami, move elsewhere, or hang up his boots.

The 8-time Ballon d’Or winner stuck to his line of having fun and living in the present day, “I value a lot more than before everything I do daily, so the only thing that I’m thinking about is playing, training and enjoying myself.”

The Argentinian had also addressed speculation surrounding his potential participation in the 2026 World Cup, set to be jointly hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico. Acknowledging frequent inquiries, Messi maintained a cautious stance, “The truth is that I don’t know,” he admitted. “I have been asked several times, especially in Argentina”.

He further emphasized the conclusion of the current season and a productive pre-season which he had missed out on last year due to extensive travel commitments.
