Vijay’s TVK Demands Withdrawal Of Waqf Bill, Delimitation Exercise

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) has called on the Centre to withdraw the Waqf Bill on Friday, accusing it for infringing Muslims’ rights.

The party argued that the Bill introduces new restrictions that take away the powers of Muslims in matters related to Waqf properties.

TVK also demanded that the Centre cancel the proposed delimitation exercise, which, according to the party, would result in an increase in seats for northern states and a decrease in seats for southern states like Tamil Nadu.

TVK claimed this was a form of punishment for Tamil Nadu, which had followed the Union government’s family planning scheme.

During the first general council meeting of TVK in Chennai, Vijay also launched a scathing attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.

He criticised Stalin’s governance, calling him a “Respected Monarch” and accusing the DMK-led state government of failing on issues of law and order and women’s safety, as per a PTI video.

Vijay stated that if his party comes to power, women’s safety would be ensured, and Tamil Nadu would witness a major political change in the 2026 Assembly elections. He stressed that the real political battle in the state would be between TVK and DMK, promising that no one could stop their movement.

In their resolutions, TVK not only opposed the Waqf Bill but also urged the government to reconsider the delimitation exercise, claiming it was unfair to Tamil Nadu.

Vijay also took a strong stance on women’s safety, accusing the DMK government of neglecting its responsibilities.

He questioned, “CM, why do you respond with anger when your governance is questioned? If the administration had been effective, women’s safety wouldn’t be a concern,” quoted PTI.

Vijay also promised that under a TVK-led government, women’s safety would be prioritiesd. He stated that the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections would bring significant political change.

“Some may dream of stopping us, but nothing can stop our movement. No one can stand in the way of the political storm that’s coming. Get ready—next year, Tamil Nadu will experience an election like never before. The real contest is between two: TVK and DMK,” he said, as quoted by PTI.

The party alleged that the people of Tamil Nadu view this as a punishment for adhering to the Union government’s family planning scheme, the PTI reports.
