In the wake of the devastating landslides that killed over 200 people in Kerala’s Wayanad, businessman Gautam Adani today declared a contribution of Rs five crore to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.

In a social media post, the billionaire expressed the Adani Group’s solidarity with Kerala, saying he was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life, and his heart goes to the affected families.

“We humbly extend our support with a contribution of Rs 5 crore to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund,” the businessman wrote in a post on X.

As search operation continues in the disaster-hit Mundakkai and the surroundings, the more bodies buried under the mud triggered by the massive landslides are being recovered. Heartbreaking visuals of the dead are surfacing on social media. According to the latest report, at least 224 dead bodies were recovered so far in one of the biggest natural calamities the region has witnessed in recent times.

A total of 1,200 rescue workers from the Indian Army, DSC Centre, Territorial Army, NDRF, Indian Navy, and IAF are deployed in the disaster-hit areas. Army, Air Force, and Navy teams, NDRF personnel police and firefighters are also working in the fields to save the remaining lives.

The challenging terrain has been making the rescue efforts more hard, and the dead bodies are being taken out.
