A man who looked for a comfortable hotel stay, unfortunately found himself in a frustrating situation. Amit Chansiker, a digital marketer, narrated the turn of events in his social media post on X.

In his tweet, Amit detailed that he has booked an OYO hotel room via MakeMyTrip (MMT) for his stay in Bengaluru. However, when he reached the location of the hotel, he found that the place was under renovation. Besides, an amount was deducted from his refund.

He wrote: “MakeMyTrip & OYO scam alert in Bengaluru. Just came here to find that the hotel I had booked is under renovation. There was not a living soul here. This is tantamount to cheating! After wasting 2 hours here they cut money from my refund. Shame on you!” He shared the photos of the site along with the copy and screenshot of of his booking details.

As his post garnered attention, MakeMyTrip reached out to him and extended an apology saying, “Hi Amit, We are truly apologetic for the experience you had with us. Our endeavor has always been to provide the best experience to our customers. As per our telephonic conversation, refund is processed in same mode of payment. Kindly check refund details.”

Similarly, Oyo also responded to the tweet saying, “Hi, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. We believe our team has already connected with you with a resolution and has done the needful. Also, have requested you to get in touch with MMT for further assistance.”

Amit Chansiker mentioned their update in a follow-up tweet and wrote; “Both Oyo and MMT reps have reached out to me multiple times on calls and via email. The refund apparently has been processed but yet to hit my account. Will update here once it does.”

The tweet, which was posted on February 9, received comments in which many users shared similar experiences.
