Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo lifted his first trophy in Saudi Arabia. After successful spells in Portugal, England, Spain and Italy, Cristiano Ronaldo won his first silverware with Saudi outfit Al Nassr after beating Al Hilal in the final of the Arab Club Champions Cup in Riyadh”s King Fahd International Stadium. Al Nassr beat Saudi Arabian Club Al Hilal for 2-1.

Reacting after the win, Cristiano Ronaldo took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his happiness. The player who is always in the debate over various records he won vs his Argentine contemporary Lionel Messi’s records, thanked Al Nassr staff, his family and his friends after the win. “Extremely proud to helped the team winning this important trophy for the 1st time!  Thank you to everyone in the club that was involved in this great achievement and to my family and friends for always being by my side!” (sic).

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner thanked fans for the support and said the victory is belonged to them: “Fantastic support by our fans! This also belongs to you!💙”


Both goals of the Riyadh based club came from Cristiano Ronaldo, including the extra time winner at the 98 minute. The match was tied 1-1 at the end of regular time, and it was Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo who led his team to victory in extra time. Al Nassr had not beaten Al Hilal in five matches since December 2021, but the 38 year old’s performance inspired his teammates to finally break through.

Al Nassr also featured their recent big transfers Croat Marcelo Brozovic, and Senegalese former Bayern Munich and Liverpool payer Sadio Mane.

Cristiano Ronaldo has three Premier League titles with Manchester United, two La Liga titles with Real Madrid, two Serie A titles with Juventus, and five UEFA Champions League titles with Manchester United and Real Madrid in his name.
