"Ee Sala Cup Namde": Drake Bets Rs 750k On RCB For IPL 2025 Final

Tonight is going to be a historic day for either Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) or Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the 2025 IPL finale. Neither of the teams has won the title yet, but tonight will create history for one of them. It remains to be seen who emerges as the victor.

Amidst the immense hype and suspense, Drake has returned to place his bets, but this time, on RCB. The Canadian rapper has placed a massive $750,000 wager on Virat Kohli’s team to grab the elusive trophy.

Taking to Instagram, the Grammy-winning artist shared a screenshot of the amount staked on the team. Tagging the crypto sports betting platform Stake, Drake captioned the post, “Ee sala cup namde,” the team’s iconic slogan in Kannada, which translates to. “This year, the cup is ours.”

If RCB does win the trophy, Drake could win a total of $1,312,500. RCB fans have marched behind the singer in hopes that the team will once and for all end the drought and achieve victory.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Drake made his “first cricket bet.” In 2024, he went viral for placing his bets against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the IPL final against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He announced the bet with the team’s chant as the caption, “Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo”.

Breaking the “Drake Curse”, named after a series of the rapper’s failed sports predictions, the move paid off as KKR won the match. But will he be right again, or will the so-called curse return?

For the first time in three years, IPL will crown a new champion. Neither PBKS nor RCB have ever won the IPL despite being a part of the league since its inception in 2008. RCB were last in the IPL final nine years ago, when Virat Kohli broke batting records with an impressive 973-run season. The batter is again in hot form, having scored over 600 runs this year. But in their path is a resurgent PBKS, led by the in-form skipper Shreyas Iyer.

As per reports, several Bollywood biggies are expected to be seated in the stands of the 125,000-capacity Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night. While Preity Zinta will be there to cheer her team on, RJ Mahvash, speculated to be dating PBKS spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, is also likely to make an appearance. Anushka Sharma is also expected to be present tonight to support Virat.
