Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) president Jay Shah expressed his joy for garnering record viewership during the 2023 Cricket World Cup final. Jay Shah announced that 30 crore fans across India tuned in to watch the finals making it the most-watched event of any kind in Indian television history.

Digital streaming platforms such as Disney + Hotstar, also broke the peak concurrency record during the tournament, reaching a massive 5.9 crore peak concurrent viewers during the finals. This remarkable viewership depicts the popularity of the games among Indian citizens and its significance of major cricketing capturing the nation’s attention. The live streaming platform Disney has said that a record 518 million Indian viewers watched the International Cricket Council (ICC). Its Hotstar streaming app set a concurrent viewership record of 59 million during the final match of the World Cup, reports business today. The live TV broadcast for the tournament garnered 442 billion minutes of TV watch time making it the most watched ICC Men”s World Cup history of the event. The viewership of the event surpassed the highest peak concurrency in the tournament with India Vs Pakistan at 7.5 crore and India Vs New Zealand at 8 crore.
