Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is likely to be ruled out of the third Test in Rajkot, starting on February 15. As per a report in Cricbuzz, it is understood that his recovery from a hamstring injury might require more time. For the uninitiated, it usually takes four to eight months to recover from a hamstring injury and the BCCI will not rush Jadeja into playing the third Test.
However, it is understood that Jadeja is likely to be available for the fourth Test in Ranchi, slated to run from February 23 to 27. The situation is grim around Mohammed Shami too as the fast bowler is grappling with an ankle injury. He is currently undergoing his recovery in London with no update on his surgery. The premier India fast bowler is undergoing treatments for the ankle with injections. It is certain that he will be unavailable for the five-Test series. Meanwhile, there is no update on former India captain Virat Kohli”s availability who was unavailable for the first-two Tests.
Earlier, Jadeja’s scans were sent to a Mumbai institute earlier on Monday and upon further assessment, he has been ruled out of the second Test. The all-rounder did not show encouraging signs while walking back to the dressing room and as per reports, his first assessment was not positive. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring the progress of the duo.
The Men’s Selection Committee had added Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar to India’s squad. As per a media release from BCCI, Saransh Jain has been named as a replacement for Washington Sundar in the India A squad for the third and final multi-day game against England Lions starting February 1, 2024 in Ahmedabad while Avesh Khan will continue to travel with his Ranji Trophy team, Madhya Pradesh and will join the Test squad if required.
