Man-of-the-match from the first Test, Ollie Pope, was looking set for another remarkable innings on Day 2 of the second Test in Vizag on Saturday. But premier India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had other ideas as he produced a peach of a delivery to rattle Pope”s leg and middle stump to send him packing for 23 runs.
Pope, who scored 196 runs in the first Test, looked comfortable on the crease after playing 54 deliveries before Bumrah dismissed him with a beaming inswinger. It was the second wicket for Bumrah on Day 2 in the 28th over after he got rid of veteran English batter Joe Root for five runs.

Incidentally, Pope fell to Bumrah for the fifth time in the longest format. It is the joint-most the English batter has got out to any bowler alongside New Zealand”s Neil Wagner. The right-handed batter has an average of 36.45 in the longest format.
The top-order batter has faced Bumrah in 10 innings, scoring 66 runs at a paltry average of 13.20. He has shown signs of struggle against the Indian bowler and continues to find his way against him. Meanwhile, the premier India fast bowler also dismissed Jonny Bairstow (25) during the final minutes of the second session.
Bumrah has been the most successful fast bowler in the ongoing five-Test series against England. He scalped six wickets in the first Test and has time and again produced movement on the ball while trying to set up the batters with his pace and variations.
