Mo Salah Stays: New Liverpool Contract Signed
Liverpool FC has finally announced the signing of the Egyptian player Mo Salah to a new contract which will keep him at the club beyond the 2024-25 season. The 32-year-old, who joined the club in 2017 from AS Roma, could have opted to leave the league for free in the summer as his contract was expiring in June.
“Of course, I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also, we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football,” Salah said in a club statement.

The Egypt international is third on Liverpool’s all-time goalscorers’ list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt, with 242 goals in 392 appearances. Financial details of the deal, which was confirmed by the player and club on Friday, have not been disclosed. Though they have not disclosed the deal completely, the 32-year-old has not taken a pay cut. He has been one of the three key Liverpool players who will be out of contract this summer, along with right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and centre-back Virgil van Dijk.
Salah had scored 30 or more goals in five of his seasons at Liverpool, and Slot believes the target for the next two years, on an individual level, is to maintain that remarkable standard.
Meanwhile, Liverpool is 11 points clear of second-placed Arsenal with seven games remaining. Though Salah was subject to interest from the big-money Saudi Pro League, given his consistency over the years, Salah remained a key to Liverpool’s hopes of consistently winning silverware.

Apart from Salah, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is also being tipped to extend his stay on Merseyside, while full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
