Real Madrid and Manchester United have topped Forbes’ latest annual list of the most valuable football clubs in the world, despite having turbulent seasons on the pitch. Spanish club Real secured its spot at the top of a list of 30 clubs worth a total of $72 billion.

The team has remained in its position for the past four years with a valuation of $6.6 billion. In a report published on Wednesday, the club had brought in a billion dollars in a single year after it posted a record $1.13 billion.

Moreover, the Spanish club is the second club in history to hit the 10-figure threshold after National Football League side Dallas Cowboys.

Manchester ranked second with a $6.6 billion valuation, having generated $834 million in revenues during the 2023-24 season, despite a forgettable Premier League campaign that saw it finish fourth.

Real’s LaLiga rival, Barcelona, is third, valued at $5.65 billion, while Liverpool and Manchester City are fourth and fifth.

Six Premier League clubs were named among the top 10 valuable teams, including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea, making the list after Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

“Together, the 30 most valuable soccer teams are worth more than $72 billion, or an average of $2.4 billion, up 5% from 2024’s record $2.26 billion,” Forbes said.

Forbes’ valuations factor in both equity and net debt, using past transactions and the future outlook of each league. Revenue and operating income numbers are based on the 2023-24 season.

Though Los Blancos topped the financial charts, the 2024/25 season on pitch was far from smooth. With several injuries, they ended the campaign without a single trophy. Further, the team lost to Barcelona in both the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup finals. The team was also knocked out of the Champions League quarterfinals by Arsenal.
