Earlier this month the report of Virat Kohli not being part of the T20 World Cup has created shockwaves. The Telegraph reported that the former Indian captain is excluded from the list. Amid the ongoing speculation, India’s former World Cup winner and politician Kriti Azad refuting all those claims said that captain Rohit Sharma has told the BCCI secretary Jay Shah that the team needs Kohli “at any cost”.

The telegraph has earlier reported that the star Indian’s batsman’s spot in the squad is in doubt due to the emergence of star power-hitters in the Indian team. It also further stated that Kohli will have to exhibit a strong performance in the Indian Premier League to get back the spot.

Azad taking on to X said that “nincompoops should not involve themselves in the selection process”. He further added that the chief selector and former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar was given time till March 15, but “if sources are to be believed, Ajit Agarkar was neither able to convince himself nor the other selectors”.

“Virat Kohli will play the T20 World Cup, and its official announcement will be made before the team selection,” Azad wrote.

The T20 World Cup will begin shortly after the IPL concludes. The premier T20I will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA from June 2 to 29.Kohli, like
