In a bid to add to her medal tally at the Asian Games, PV Sindhu has picked up ex-India Thomas Cup captain Anup Sridhar as her new coach on a trial basis.
The double Olympic medallist will begin her quest under the tutelage of Sridhar with the Artic Open, slated to run from October 8 to 13 in Finland, followed by the Denmark Open from 15th. This period will define if his tactics can help raise Sindhu’s game with the ace Indian shuttler seeking a replacement for Indonesia’s Agus Dwi Santoso.
“We are looking for a new coach with Agus’s contract ending. We are keen to see how a partnership with Anup Sridhar works out, and are looking at 4-5 names going forward. Anup will travel to Finland and will train her in Hyderabad in the coming days,” her father Ramana told the Indian Express.
Sindhu is also considering South Korea’s Park Tae-Sang as an option.
“It’s not like they parted ways after a fight. It’s just that both me and Sindhu felt the partnership wasn’t working out and yielding results,” he said.
The two-time Asian Games medallist is currently working on her fitness and secured training slots at the Gachibowli stadium. The next two months of the tournament, following the European swing, will include action in Korea, Kumamoto, and China Masters (from November 5 to 24).
Her father Ramana believes that if there is no injury then she can continue to feature till the Los Angeles 2028.
