The IPL 2024 concluded with Kolkata Knight Riders clinching the IPL title. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acknowledging the efforts of the IPL Groundsmen for their remarkable contribution to the games announced a special bonus following the culmination of the IPL 2024 season.
In the statement released by the BCCI general Secretary recognizing the efforts of the groundsmen for providing top-notch playing surfaces said, “The unsung heroes of our successful T20 season are the incredible ground staff who worked tirelessly to provide brilliant pitches, even in difficult weather conditions.”
Announcing a special bonus to each of the individuals, Jay Shah added, “As a token of our appreciation, the groundsmen and curators at the 10 regular IPL venues will receive INR 25 lakhs each, and the same at the 3 additional venues will get INR 10 lakhs each. Thank you for your dedication and hard work”.
Thus, each groundsman will receive an amount of Rs 25 Lakhs and additionally, the ground staff at the three additional venues used during the season will be awarded Rs 10 lakh each. This gesture shows the BCCI”s commitment to recognizing the efforts put up by the groundsmen in the smooth running of the IPL matches. Despite the changing weather conditions, the ground staff consistently delivered pitches that facilitated exciting and high-quality cricket throughout the IPL season.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders emerged as the winners of the IPL 2024 after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final by eight wickets. Congratulating KKR for their title triumph, Jay Shah wrote on X, “Congratulations to the @KKRiders for clinching the 2024 #TATAIPL! The team showed great consistency throughout the tournament and kudos to @ShreyasIyer15 for leading the side brilliantly.”
