Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes posted a photo of him enjoying local cuisine during his visit to Bangalore. Jonty being a frequent visitor of India expressed his gratitude to his cab driver for suggesting him good relishing meal.

In the photo he posted on X, he was seen enjoying Mangalore bun and masala chai at a local hotel. He wrote on X, “When taxi driver at Bengaluru airport suggested to stop at his favourite restaurant for a roadside bite, because according to him: “traffic will be standing!” Grateful I took his advice. Excellent #mangalorebun and #Mysoremasaldosa, finished off with #masalachai #loveIndia”.

Jonty Rodes who was known for his love for India was praised by many users for indulging in Indian culture. But one user assuming the man seated behind him as the cab driver criticised him for not ordering anything for the cab-driver. The user wrote, “You could have ordered something for your taxi driver. Being celebrity doesn’t give you class”.

Being completely uncool by the response, the cricket legend clarified that the man behind was not his cab driver and his driver was the one who clicked the photo. He then added that the cab driver had a tea to which he paid for.

“I have been sitting on this reply for a couple of days. The gentleman at my table is a stranger to me, and my driver was taking the picture. He did not eat, just ordered for me some of his favourite food. He just had tea, and yes, I did pay for it. #shameonyou” he wrote on X.

Many users came in support for the cricketer and one among them wrote, “sir you are a legend and please don’t pay attention to these online trolls”.

The cricketer also shared a video of him enjoying the Bangalore views and local cuisines.

Rhodes is currently serving as the fielding coach of IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants.
