Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar has backed the Team India captain Rohit Sharma to win the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados on Saturday.

Sharma-led Team India to the 2024 World Cup final against Australia but failed to get over the line. The Pakistan fast bowler believes that it will be a perfect reception for the Team India captain to defeat South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final and end his career on a high.

“He is a selfless captain, plays for the team, and is a complete batter,” Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said speaking on his YouTube channel. “Rohit Sharma has repeatedly said he wants to make an impact and win the trophy and so, deserves to win the cup. He is a big player, and it should end on a big note,” Akhtar added.

“We have been very calm as a team. We understand the occasion (final), it’s a big occasion. For us, we must keep calm,” the Indian skipper said after a 68-run win against England on Thursday.

A ruthless Team India defeated England by 68 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finals. Spin twins Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav scalped three wickets each to script victory for the side after Sharma top-scored for the side with a 39-ball 57-run knock. His innings was laced with six boundaries and two hits over the fence.

Meanwhile, South Africa defeated Afghanistan to enter the T20 World Cup 2024 final.
