T20 World Cup 2024: Tornado Hits USA vs Bangladesh Warm-Up Match In Dallas; Stadium Destroyed

A severe tornado hit the T20 World Cup 2024 Warm-Up match between the USA and Bangladesh at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, destroying the stadium.

Incidentally, Canada and Nepal featured in the first warm-up match at the venue, with harsh weather conditions including a severe storm, stalling the proceedings on Tuesday morning.

The tornado led into a giant screen, set up at the venue for the replays and match- graphics, being destroyed by severe storms. According to a report in the Associated Press, the death toll in the storm rose to 22 by Monday, bringing a large share of the population to a standstill in the country.

“The destructive storms caused deaths in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kentucky and were just north of an oppressive, early season heat wave setting records from south Texas to Florida.”

Forecasters predicted that the storms could move toward the East Coast later on Tuesday, issuing an official tornado watch between the states of North Carolina and Maryland. These regions fall between New York and Florida where the other T20 World Cup matches are scheduled to take place.
