Former India captain Virat Kohli took to X to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his congratulatory message after the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.
Following India’s seven-run win over South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian PM spoke with Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma, and Kohli over a phone call and thanked them for the historic triumph. He also applauded Kohli’s contribution in the shortest format over a message on X.
Responding to that message, Kohli wrote: “Dear @narendramodi sir, thank you so much for your very kind words and your support and encouragement always. It has been a privilege to be a part of this team which has brought the cup home. We are deeply touched & overwhelmed with the happiness it has bought the entire nation.”

Kohli was adjudged the man-of-the-match for his 76-run knock in the final. His 59-ball innings was laced with six boundaries and two hits over the fence. It was, incidentally, his first and only half-century in the marquee event after a lackluster run throughout the tournament.
Following the triumph, the Team India chasemaster announced his retirement from the shortest format.
