Ahbab FC has sparked a match-fixing controversy in their match against Rangers FC after conceding dubious own goals in the Delhi Premier League 2023-24 fixture. Incidentally, when Ahbab FC was leading 4-0, their defenders passed the ball amongst themselves with a player hitting the ball at his net.

The incident took place in the 86th minute of the match and gained a lot of traction on social media after Minerva Punjab owner Ranjit Bajaj highlighted the incident on X.

“I can guarantee that fixing is rampant in the @FootballDelhi senior premier division- that’s why we true to play In it ever again till they take action- I have been saying it again and again- the most corrupt league In the country – @ILeague_aiff is not behind – referees – team owners – five teams involved and all players know about it – no one cares – and guess who is the main partner of delhi soccer association- a betting company 😢😢😢🇮🇳🇮🇳🙏🏽 @cbic_india @DelhiPolice @Delhi_FC I tweeted about this a month ago no one even contacted me – who wil wnat to see this match – please make this go viral – this is actually the third division of our league,” Bajaj wrote on X.

The second own goal was more dubious as the Ahbab player lashed the ball into his own net just before the referee blew the full-time whistle.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Chaubey took note of the incident and said that suspicion emerged over the video and the governing body for football in India will be investing the matter.

Later, on Tuesday, the Delhi Soccer Association suspended the Ahbab Football Club with immediate effect.
