Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted T20 World Champions Team India over breakfast at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi, shortly after their arrival to the national capital from Barbados. Team India defeated South Africa by seven runs to lift the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy. It was the second World Cup trophy for the Men in Blue in this format.

Led by Rohit Sharma, members of the Team India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad entered the Prime Minister’s residence wearing special T20 jerseys with ‘Champions’ etched in the front. Following the meeting, the T20 champions returned to the team hotel with a flight to Mumbai later in the day.

The T20 World Champions also sat around PM Modi for a light-hearted conversation which was followed by a photo session with the entire team. The national team was accompanied by the BCCI President Roger Binny and Honorary Secretary Jay Shah to the PM’s residence.

“The triumphant Indian Cricket Team met with the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modiji, at his official residence today upon arrival. Sir, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for your inspiring words and the invaluable support you have provided to #TeamIndia,” the BCCI said on X.

“An excellent meeting with our Champions! Hosted the World Cup winning team at 7, LKM and had a memorable conversation on their experiences through the tournament,” PM Modi said after the meeting.

T20 World Champions Team India arrived at the New Delhi airport in the early hours of Thursday. The Men in Blue arrived in the national capital on a specially arranged chartered flight by the BCCI honorary secretary Jay Shah.

Each member of the T20 World Cup 2024 squad wore the white T-shirt from their team kit with the Champions’ medal hanging around their neck while Team India captain Rohit Sharma was seen holding up the trophy and displaying it to the fans and other Indians on arrival at the airport.
