What Former India Cricketer Said About India's World Cup Chances

Former India cricketer Atul Wassan has said that Australia and England”s poor form in recent months could boost India”s chances of winning the ICC World Cup 2023. He was talking to news agency ANI after five-time champions Australia beat Sri Lanka at Ekana Sports City in Lucknow.

“Australian team is at the 10th position and England team lost to Afghanistan…I believed that Australia and England will pose a tough challenge to India in the World Cup but the manner in which both teams have lost, I feel that their morale is low,” Wassan said.

Australia and current champions England have already lost two matches each from the total three matches they have played so far.

However, Wassan has said both the teams are still ‘dangerous’.

“If both teams are eliminated, India”s path will be clearer. I still feel that both teams are dangerous. The kind of commanding performances given by India one after the other and they won the matches so easily – but this might not be the right way, lest they become complacent…,” he said.

India, who won the trophy in the 50-year format in 2011, are considered to be one of the favorites to win the World Cup this year and leading the points table now winning 6 points after winning last three matches in the campaign.

In its last match, India smashed Pakistan in Ahmedabad at Narendra Modi Stadium by seven wickets on Saturday. The power-packed match came to an end with the visitors losing to an emphatic performance by both batters and bowlers of Team India. Before Pakistan, India had beaten Bangladesh and Australia in the campaign.
