Yashasvi Jaiswal To Move From Mumbai To Goa For Upcoming Season
Indian Test team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will play for Goa in 2025-26 domestic season after quitting his current team Mumbai. The decision was taken after his No Objection Certificate (NOC) to change the team was immediately approved by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).
Goa Cricket Association (GCA) secretary Shambu Desai said ESPN that they were the one who approached Jaiswal as part of finding the best talents in India so to develop a good squad for Goa. Meanwhile, MCA found surprised about Jaiswal’s letter regarding the transfer.
Jaiswal’s arrival will be a big boost for Goa who were just promoted to Ranji Trophy Elite division after winning the final of Plate division. He is now following the footsteps of Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad who also switched from Mumbai to Goa.
The 23-year-old batsman last played for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir in 2024-25 Ranji Trophy. He could only manage to score four and 12 runs in that match before he ruled out for the semi final against Vidarbha due to an injury.
His first-class debut was back at 2019 for Mumbai after representing them earlier in under-19 level. He amassed an impressive number of 863 runs at an average of 53.93 including four centuries and two fifties.
The aggressive left-handed batsman has even better stats for the team in limited overs format. He has scored 1,296 runs in List A cricket at an average of 58.90 along with 648 runs in T20s at a strike rate of 136.42.
These domestic efforts were more than enough to grab his spot in Indian Cricket team where he eventually became the unquestioned opener for last two years. Playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL, his outings were lean so far this season with scores of 1, 29 and 4. However, his potential is doubtful for none which is key for his new domestic team Goa as well.
