Apple has announced the winners of the 2023 App Store Awards. On November 29, Apple said that the winners were selected from nearly 40 finalists for delivering exceptional technical innovation, user experience, as well as design. AllTrails, an outdoor exploration app, has been named the iPhone app of the year in the 2023 App Store awards.

“It’s inspiring to see the ways developers continue to build incredible apps and games that are redefining the world around us,” said Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, in a statement. Tim Cook also added that this year”s winners represent the limitless potential of developers to bring their visions to life, creating apps and games with remarkable ingenuity, quality, and purpose-driven missions. According to Apple, the AllTrails app nurtures community through comprehensive trail guides and outdoor exploration for everyone.

Pret-a-Makeup, a make-up sketchpad app, is the iPad app of the year. Image editor Photomator has been chosen as the Mac app of the year, and indie film streaming app Mubi has achieved the Apple TV app award. Apple said that the MUBI app curates exceptional indie films and international documentaries with a human touch. SmartGym, a fitness app, is the top Apple Watch app.

In the gaming section, Honkai: Star Rail won the iPhone game of the year. In the iPad game category, Lost in Play won the award, and Lies of P was chosen as the Mac game of the year. Hello Kitty Island Adventure is the Apple Arcade game of the year. Apart from this, Apple’s App Store Editors have also selected five cultural impact winners. Too Good To Go, a food waste-minimizing app, is one of the cultural impact winners. Apple said that apps started integrating AI throughout the year in various ways and added that generative AI captured users’ collective imaginations with its evolution unfolding in real time.
