Apple launches multiple products every year and, at the same time, discontinues certain products regularly. This time also, there is no exception, as the Cupertino-based tech giant discontinued its lineup of M2-powered MacBook Pro models. Apple made this decision as they unveiled the all-new MacBook Pro models powered by the M3 processor on October 30.

Apple unveiled the 13-inch MacBook Pro in 2022. This laptop, powered by an Apple M2 processor, was equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. The 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro also packed two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports. During the launch, Apple claimed that the M2 chip delivers a 40% performance increase over the M1. The 13-inch MacBook Pro will be replaced by the new M3-powered 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops. While the discontinued model came with a price tag of Rs 1,29,900 (256GB SSD storage), the new entry-level 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro, with 512GB SSD storage, can be purchased for Rs 1,69,900. This indicates that the price difference between the old and new models is Rs 40,000.

According to Apple, the new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 Max chip will deliver performance and capabilities that push the limits of computing. The new lineup is equipped with a Liquid Retina XDR display with 20 percent brighter SDR content. Apple has also included an immersive six-speaker sound system, a built-in 1080p camera, and different connectivity options. The new models will be available to MacBook fans on November 7. “With the next generation of M3 chips, we’re raising the bar yet again for what a pro laptop can do,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, in a statement.
