Users can now remove people/objects in the background using Apple Intelligence.

Apple has rolled out the 3rd developer beta of iOS 18.1 with a few new features including an AI-powered image editing tool called ‘Clean Up.’ This will allow users to remove unwanted photos from their images. This is exactly how the Magic Editor tool works in Google which is free on iOS and Android phones on the Google Photos app.

The new Clean Up feature is currently available for the recently launched 3rd developer beta 18.1 which is limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max models. This new Clean Up is rolled out as a part of Apple Intelligence as it is available in the Photos app.

This will enable the users to edit photos with the Clean Up eraser-style icon at the bottom. The tool will further detect unwanted objects or distractions in the background and will remove them by itself. The users can also manually wipe off the trivial objects using their fingers. Users can also censor a face using the Clean Up tool in iOS 18.1.

Since it was announced at the WWDc conference Apple users have been waiting for the photo editing feature. however, this new tool will be rolled out to other iPhone models later this year.

Earlier in July, iOS 18 announced a new flagship UI which is available on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus which was only available on iPhones 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max before. Now the users can mix two modes dark and light that enables dark mode widgets in light mode usage. iOS 18 Beta 4 adds a new iCloud menu in settings. Previously, it was accessible only through the Apple Account.
