A popular language learning app, Duolingo has introduced a new feature called “Learn English from Tamil” to help Tamil speakers improve their English skills. The app claims that this feature is specifically designed for learners from Tamil Nadu and offers an engaging and culturally relevant learning experience.

According to Karandeep Singh Kapany, Regional Marketing Director of Duolingo India, localisation is at the heart of the company’s mission to make language learning accessible and relevant for everyone, and the app offers Tamil speakers an opportunity to learn English in a way that feels culturally resonant and engaging.

To promote the new course, Duolingo has launched a vibrant campaign called “English Vaathi Duo” in collaboration with creative agency Talented. The campaign combines Tamil pop culture with Duo’s quirky personality which was shared on Instagram.


This course is the fourth Indic course on the Duolingo platform, after Bengali, Hindi, and Telugu. The app aims to break down barriers to language learning and make it accessible to all, Kapany added.
