Google announced that it is launching the Gemini mobile app in India today, and it will be available in over nine languages: Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and Gujarati.

Keeping India’s mobile-first approach, Google decided to launch the Gemini app and Gemini Advanced, its paid version, which will give users across India access to the AI model and its features in a multilingual format. The tech giant also added new features, such as new data analysis capabilities and file uploads, as well as the feature to chat with the AI in Google Messages, starting in English.

“Exciting news! Today, we’re launching the Gemini mobile app in India, available in English and 9 Indian languages. We’re also adding these local languages to Gemini Advanced, plus other new features, and launching Gemini in Google Messages in English,” announced Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet.

The iOS users also get Gemini access over the next few weeks, with Gemini access rolling out directly from the Google app.

The Features To Look Out For

With the power of Gemini 1.5 Pro available in nine languages now in India, the expanded capacity of the AI will give users access to new features:

  • Document Uploads: Users can now upload multiple large documents (up to 1,500 pages in total) or summarise 100 emails. The AI assistant will provide quick summaries, actionable insights, and personalised feedback while saving time.
  • Data Analysis: Android users can also upload spreadsheets (Google Sheets, Excel, and CSVs) for data analysis. Gemini Advanced can clean, analyse, and visualise your data, and even transform it into graphs and interactive charts.
  • Gemini in Google Messages: Drafting messages, brainstorming ideas, or even planning events can now be easy through the Messages app. This feature will be starting out in English first and on select devices.

Gemini will keep all files private to the respective users, and the data will not be used to train AI models, the tech giant highlighted.
