IRCTC Down: Online Booking Service Unavailable On App And Website

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation’s (IRCTC) e-ticketing service has faced a major outage. Both the website and the app will remain unavailable for one hour on Monday due to maintenance activity. Indian Railways passengers faced difficulties booking train tickets as they were unable to access both the IRCTC app and website.

“Due to maintenance activity, e-ticketing service will not be available for the next one hour. Please try later. For cancellation/file tdr, please call at customer care no. 14646, 0755-6610661 & 0755-4090600 or mail at etickets@irctc.co.in,” said IRCTC.

As per the website status tracking tool Downdetector, nearly 50 percent of users are unable to access the website while 40 percent of users are unable to use the apps. The outage reportedly began around 10 am.

A social media user complained that he had been trying to book tickets everyday at 10 am for the past week and he has been unable to reach the booking page.

According to an Economic Times report, Indian Railways has been working on its “super app” with a deadline set for December. The app will reportedly allow passengers to access services including ticket booking, platform pass purchases, train tracking, and more through a single platform.

Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the all-in-one app will work with IRCTC’s established systems to offer passengers a smooth experience.
