If you are faced with a blue screen on your Microsoft Windows 10 and you are wondering whether your device is malfunctioning, then you’re not alone. A massive outage has been recorded across the globe as Microsoft 10 malfunctioned. Here is everything you need to know about the outage:

  2. Cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike stated that a ‘defect’ in one of its software updates hit Windows operating systems. The firm said that the issue has been identified and isolated, and a fix has been deployed.
  3. Crowdstrike CEO George Kurtz highlighted that it is not a security incident or cyberattack.
  4. Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the ministry is in touch with the US tech giant and its associates. He further noted that the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has not been affected.
  5. Several airlines in India, such as Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Vistara, and Akasa Air, reported temporary disruptions in their digital systems affecting bookings, check-ins, and other flight updates. Over 1,000 flights have reportedly been cancelled across the globe as a result.
  6. Minister of Civil Aviation, Rammohan Naidu directed airport authorities and airlines to be compassionate and provide extra seating, water, and food for passengers who are affected by delays.
  7. Railway companies in the UK reported delays and stated that they were experiencing “widespread IT issues.” Payment systems were also affected, as supermarkets, including Morrisons and Waitrose, were unable to accept cashless payments.
  8. Several US airlines – United, Delta, and American Airlines – grounded their flights. Alaska warned that its emergency services were affected.
  9. In Australia, a raft of online dealings in shops, airports, and communications are impacted and Australia’s National Cyber Security Coordinator called it a mass IT Outage.
  10. Known as the Blue Screen of Death, or simply BSOD, the blue screen popped up on the screens of millions of Windows’ users. Though Crowdstrike said that the issue has been fixed, those with their devices caught in the loop will still need to take their own actions to fix it.
