'Reason Identified, Updates Released To Resolve Issue': India On Microsoft Outage

Responding to the massive global outage of Microsoft, leaving many users in trouble in India, Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the ministry is in touch with the US tech giant and its associates.

Microsoft windows users faced service outage across the world, as many windows user saw blue screen errors on their screen in laptop and PC on Friday.

The Ministry in a post on X informed that the reason for the outage has been identified and updates have been released to resolve the issue. The minister further noted that the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has not been affected. The NIC, a pan-India network, provides computer support to all the Central Government Departments, State Government Departments and District Administrations.

“MEITY is in touch with Microsoft and its associates regarding the global outage. The reason for this outage has been identified and updates have been released to resolve the issue. CERT is issuing a technical advisory. NIC network is not affected,” the post reads.

The outage caused disruptions to various services including flights, supermarkets, banking operations, and other business. In India, major air carries such as Vistara, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa Air took to X platform, informing the technical issues that are affecting booking, check-in and other flight updates.

The outage also affected companies including banks, telecommunications companies, hospitals, TV and radio broadcasters, supermarkets and other institutions around the globe.

It is reported that more than 1,000 flights have been cancelled around the world so far due to the outage.
