Actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan took the oath as the deputy chief minister. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu will hold the post of Chief Minister.
Kalyan, one of Andhra Pradesh’s cabinet ministers and a member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), was elected as the leader of the legislative party on June 11. Notably, he will be the only Deputy Chief Minister in the NDA-led government.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers Amit Shah and JP Nadda, among others.
In the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, the TDP, BJP, and Janasena Party, comprising the NDA, secured an impressive 164 seats out of the 175 seats. While the TDP won 135 seats, the Janasena bagged 21, and eight seats were secured by the BJP.
The Janasena party has so far recorded a perfect score in the state elections, winning both Lok Sabha seats it contested. The Telugu actor contested the state assembly elections from the Pithapuram Vidhan Sabha and defeated rival Vanga Geetha from the YSR Congress Party by a margin of over 70,000 votes. Kalyan founded the Janasena Party in 2014, following his brother Chiranjeevi merging his party with Congress.
