During the Constitution Day program that was held in Delhi, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday raised concerns over the integrity of electronic voting machines (EVMs). The Congress leader had demanded the replacement of the EVMs with ballot papers.
“We don’t want elections through EVMs. We want elections through ballot papers. Just like we had carried out the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ we will run a nationwide campaign for elections using ballot papers,” Kharge said.
The statement from Kharge came in following the INDIA bloc’s recent defeat in the Maharashtra assembly election.

In the Maharashtra assembly election, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance had secured 230 out of 288 seats. In this BJP alone has won 132 seats. Meanwhile, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) managed to secure only 46 seats, with Congress winning just 16.
Similarly, earlier during the Haryana assembly election, the party had come forward blaming the voting process for its loss in the polls. Alleging conspiracy, the Congress party had written to the Election Commission, citing issues with EVM batteries and listing 20 constituencies where candidates had submitted written and verbal complaints about the EVMs during the election in Haryana.
In Haryana, the BJP secured a third term by winning 48 seats while Congress managed to win only 37.
