Amid a heavy flood-like situation in Gujarat, portions of the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway were completely damaged. The video of the torn up National Highway was posted on social media.

Taking a dig at the BJP government, the Kerala Congress reshared the video of the damaged NH on X, captioned “Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway made using lava”.

The one-and-a-half-minute video has revealed the pathetic condition of the roadway. In the video, the portion of the damaged road’s upper layer was seen completely displaced.

Netizens flooded the comment sections reacting to the video. One among them wrote, “Unbelievable. Gadkari is creating death traps with these sorts of roads. This is their achhe din of a road collapse & train derailment daily or some monument toppling over. We are being robbed.”

While another asked, “is this road also inaugurated by #NarenderModi”.

Heavy downpours continue to batter Gujarat on Tuesday. The center has allotted six columns of the Army which have been deployed in the worst affected districts like Vadodara, Kheda, Anand, Morbi, Devbhumi Dwarka and Rajkot.

The entire state is said to be experiencing an extremely severe monsoon spell because of the deep depression, which is causing several rains and creating floods.

The rain-related incident has claimed nine more lives, taking the death toll to 16 in two days. 8,500 people were relocated and rescued from flood-affected areas with rains continuing to lash for the fourth consecutive day. Gujarat was put on red alert by the Indian Meteorological Department for extreme rainfall till August 30.
