Gaza-Bound Aid Flotilla Interception, Detention: Colombia Expels All Israeli Diplomats
Bogotá, Colombia: After Israel’s interception of a Gaza-bound aid flotilla, Colombia, which had broken diplomatic relationship with Israel in May last year over the latter’s genocidal aggression, on Wednesday expelled all remaining Israeli diplomates in the country.
Taking to social media platform X, Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced that the country expels “the entire diplomatic delegation of Israel” over what the Latin American country called “a new international crime” by Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla, which attempts to break blockade imposed by the Jewish nation on the war-ravaged Gaza strip. Israeli forces have reportedly boarded and taken control of several ships that are part of the flotilla and detained many activists involved in the mission.
Notably, activists from Colombia were also involved among those detained by Israel. Last year, President Gustavo Petro had declared that the country would end diplomatic relations with Israel, despite the military and free trade deals between the two countries. The south American country had termed Israel’s action in Gaza a “genocide.”
