Tehran, Iran: Israel’s surprise strikes on Iran has killed several top leaders of the Islamic Republic in the early morning of Friday. In a major escalation in the Middle East, Israel has stated that it has launched a wave of strikes against Iranian military and nuclear sites in Tehran, vowing to continue the offensive. According to the analysts, the latest attack by Iran came with no warnings, that too with a scale larger and broader than the previous ones.

Multiple locations in the capital city, including Tabriz, Tehran, Kermanshah, Isfahan, Natanz, came under attack. Israel reportedly hit nuclear facilities and ballistic missile factories, Iranian media reported explosions, including at the country’s main uranium enrichment facility. The Jewish nation also targeted military leaders, nuclear scientists and other top decision-makers of the Persian country.

As Israel declared a state of emergency after striking Iran, Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has warned Israel that Israel “must expect severe punishment” for its aggression on Iran, killing several commanders and scientists.

Who Are The Top Iranian Leaders Killed In Israel’s Latest Attacks?

Reports from Iran suggest that several top military leaders and scientists have been killed in the Israeli attack against Iran. A report by Iran’s state-run media Press TV, confirmed that the country’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri has been killed in Friday’s attacks.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency confirmed that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Chief Major General Hossein Salami also lost his life in the attack. The report added that lawmaker Fereydoun Abbasi, Azad University chief Muhamed Mehdi Teranichi, Head of the Iranian Supreme Council for Science, Research, and Technology, and General Gholamali Rashid, commander of Khatam-Al-Anbiya HQ of IRGC were among the targets by today’s Israel attacks.

The strikes reportedly hit residences inside two heavily guarded compounds housing military commanders, as well as multiple apartment buildings, appearing to be targeted assassination attempts. Iran-based news portal also reported that Ali Shamkhani, a top advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was seriously wounded in a strike on his residence. Iran has also reported civilian casualties in the attacks

According to reports citing Israeli sources, the country’s spy agency Mossad carried out a series of covert operations inside Iran, targeting the country’s strategic missile systems and air defense capabilities as part of the offensive. The attacks mark the first major strikes by Israel deep inside Iran, killing and wounding several top Iranian military and nuclear officials.
