According to the US President Joe Biden, Israel will facilitate a four-hour humanitarian pause each day from Thursday, in northern Gaza, to allow civilians a safe flee to the south. “These pauses will help get civilians to safer areas away from active fighting. They are a step in the right direction”, said the President on X (formerly Twitter). He told reporters that he had also asked the Israel administration for a “pause longer than three days” during negotiations over the release of some hostages held by Hamas, reported the Associated Press.

Health of Gaza and its citizens are deteriorating day-by-day as unavailability of pure water, food, and proper medical supports led them to infectious diseases. Scabies, diarrhea and respiratory infections rip through overcrowded shelters. More than 10,000 civilians have been killed along in Gaza, while others are struggling to survive without fuel, electricity, food, and medication.

From the Gaza Strip alone, over half a million were displaced and fled south. The refugee camps and hospitals in south are crammed full, with almost zero waste management functions and became breeding grounds for infectious diseases. As per the data’s of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) almost 4,600 displaced pregnant women and 380 newborns are sheltered in their facilities and are in urgent need of proper medical attention. According to the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) there are almost 50,000 pregnant women are in Gaza with over 180 giving birth every day.

The UNRWA also states that, 150 Palestinians, including 44 children, have been killed by Israeli Security Forces and 8, including one child, by Israeli settlers since October 7 in the West Bank. The relief agency also lost 7 more workers in the last twenty-four hours. “Thousands of children killed cannot be collateral damage”, said the UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini on Thursday. “Pushing a million people from their homes & concentrating them in areas without adequate infrastructure is forced displacement. Severely limiting food, water & medicine is collective punishment”, added Mr Lazzarini. He was speaking at an international conference on Gaza in Paris.

Streets outside the Los Angeles’ Museum of Tolerance witnessed demonstrations by Pro-Palestinian and Pro-Israeli supporters. It eventually ended up in fights after the screening of a footage depicting the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. According to the Los Angeles Times, at least 150 people attended the private screening of “Bearing Witness to the October 7th Massacre”, which included real footages captured by body cameras and phones and was compiled by the Israel Defense Forces.
