Israel Strike On Gaza School Killing 100 Was 'Self-Defence': Germany

Germany defended the Israeli bombing of Gaza’s al-Tabin school, where displaced Palestinians were sheltering, as an act of self-defense.  The government deputy spokesman Wolfgang Buechner said that Israel has the right to defend itself.

Buecher said that Hamas uses schools, hospitals, and kindergartens as command centers and uses people against their will as protective human shields. He also warned of one-sided reports that are distributed by Hamas and not believing everything that is spread by this side.

The strike on the Tabin school in Gaza City killed at least 100 Palestinians during early morning prayers. Most of those killed were children and elderly. The Tabin school and over half of Gaza’s schools are being used as a shelter for displaced people. The building reportedly housed more than 1,000 people and added more people after the Israeli military ordered them to move from the town of Beit Hanoun.

After the attack, the Israeli army issued a statement regarding targeting the ‘command and control centre’ that served as a hideout for the terrorists and Hamas commanders. However, it did not provide any evidence to back up the claim.

As per the Unicef data half of the schools used as shelters in Gaza were directly hit in the last 10 months. 85% of the school buildings were directly hit or damaged, the reports said.

However, other European nations have condemn the school bombing and civilan casualtites. Recently, France, UK and Germany issued a joint statement to stop the ongoing conflict and asked for a long term solution to the problem.
